Our custom timber frame cabin is set high in the sub alpine forests of Vancouver Island and is less than a 30 minute drive from downtown Courtenay. Forbidden Plateau was formally a ski hill until its closure in 1999. Even though the ski resort operations no longer exist and the old runs are somewhat over grown, the area still remains popular with outdoor enthusiasts. The immediate area offers some of the best hiking and snowshoeing opportunities in the area as well as first class downhill mountain biking terrain. Within a 15 minute walk above the cabin you will reach the first lookout which reveals amazing views of the Comox Valley and Salish Sea below. Continue further up and the views get even better. If you get lucky, Canada's national bird the Grey Jay will happily eat from your hand. A fun experience for the young and young at heart. After your outdoor play time head back to the cabin and have a soak in our 6 person hot tub to soothe your achy muscles. Prepare a home cooked meal in our well equipped kitchen, then head outside for some time around the fire pit. S'mores anyone? Forbidden Plateau Cabin is not just a nice place to stay...
