Heron's Retreat Tranquil Oceanfront Estate is a magnificent ocean-front west-coast style home on a gorgeous ocean-front property featuring 130 feet of walk-on beach and over an acre of beautifully landscaped gardens. This getaway is ideal for hikers, kayakers, paddle boarders, and cyclists, or anyone needing a good dose of nature and tranquility. The boathouse is complete with a couple of kayaks and canoes available to borrow or, bring your own toys and take advantage of the secure storage.
The home has 3 living areas giving you a total of 5 bedrooms, 4 1/2 bathrooms, and 3 kitchens and living rooms. As an added bonus - dogs are considered on a case-by-case basis - Please contact host before booking as additional requirements and fees apply.

The main part of the house features a large living room, dining room, kitchen, office, powder-room bathroom, bedroom with bunk beds, and stunning master bedroom and ensuite. The lower level features a 3rd bedroom bed, full bath and laundry.
The living room has a lovely wood fireplace to curl up to as well as provides spectacular, unobstructed ocean views. It has a very comfy sectional sofa that's perfect for afternoon naps or to settle in and enjoy your favourite movie on the high-end flat screen TV. There are also a very cozy swivel sofa chair to curl up in with a good book or just gaze out at the stunning view.
The separate dining room boasts the same amazing view with a beautiful hand-made Canadian maple dining table and sideboard.
The kitchen is a cooking enthusiasts dream. It has granite counter tops, maple cabinets, stainless-steel appliances which includes: a state-of-the-art induction range with duel convection oven, fridge and freezer with filtered water and ice maker, high-end, silent dishwasher, built-in, multi-function convection microwave, coffee machine, regular drip coffee machine, Vitamix blender, high-end cookware, and so much more. There are loads of counter space for prep but be warned…. it is hard to focus because one area provides a beautiful view of the ocean and the other, the spectacular gardens and pond. The kitchen also provides a second eating area and has table for 6.
The decks are absolutely amazing and wrap around 2 sides of the house. Watching the sun rise on the breakfast deck with coffee in hand is the best way to start the day! The breakfast deck has 4 comfortable chairs as well as a bistro table with 4 chairs. The large entertainment deck on the side of the house provides an outdoor sectional sofa, fire table, large umbrella, a comfortable lounge chair as well as an outdoor eating area for 6 which is covered by a sunshade. For the expert griller, there’s a top-of-the-line Napoleon propane barbecue complete with built-in smoker and infrared, searing side burner.
The master bedroom has a king-size bed and sliding glass doors onto the upper deck and large walk-in closet. The ensuite bath has marble double sinks and a large walk-in shower.
The powder-room bathroom on the main floor overlooks the gardens and has a heated tile floor and pedestal sink.
The nautical room on the main floor has heavy-duty bunk beds (suitable for adults) with very comfortable double bed on the bottom and single on the top and overlooks the garden.
The main floor office has a lovely view of the vast, beautifully manicured park-like gardens. It has a large desk, and wireless printer.
The lower level has a bedroom a queen-size bed and full bathroom with double sinks and heated tile floor, tub, and 5-way rain shower. Enjoy a relaxing soak in the tub or rinse away the stress in the rain shower.
The lower lever also has 2 additional living areas each having separate entrances or can be accessed from the main part of the house.
The larger guest area has a comfortable love seat and sofa to cozy up on - take in the unobstructed ocean views or tune into your favourite TV program on the large, flat-screen TV, or relax in front of the electric fireplace. There is a full-size fridge, dishwasher, convection range, microwave, coffee maker, and all the kitchen essentials needed to enjoy a home-cooked meal. Outside is a high-end Napoleon barbecue. The bedroom has a queen-sized bed and has a wardrobe, chest of drawers, and a large flat-screen TV. The bathroom has a tub, 5-way rain shower, and double sinks. There is also in-suite laundry.
The other guest area has the same unobstructed ocean views and has a large flat-screen TV and a wood-burning stove to curl up to. There is a full-size fridge, dishwasher, 2-burner cooktop, microwave, coffee maker, complete with all the kitchen essentials. Outside is a Weber barbecue. The large bedroom has a king-sized bed. It also has a wardrobe and chest of drawers, a large flat-screen TV and small desk and chair. The bathroom has a tub and 5-way rain shower.
The bedrooms all have top-of-the-line beds complete with high-end cotton linens and duvets.
WIFI is everywhere, so you can stream your favourite music. All the TVs come equipped with access to Apple TV and include a large selection of Apple movies and TV series as well as Amazon Prime and Netflix programming only (sorry no cable).
Put your feet up, take in the fresh salty air, enjoy a glass of wine, listen to the soft ebb and flow of the waves, and soak up the views of James Island and beyond from one of the many decks or patios - the impressive entertainment deck, relaxing upper breakfast deck, lower covered patio, boathouse deck, or seaside patio. Also, if you're looking for a change of scene, the park bench overlooking the pond is wonderfully relaxing.
In the summer, swim, suntan, forage for beach treasures, or take the canoes or kayaks out for a paddle – or enjoy spectacular storm watching in the winter. More than likely, you will see the local seals, otters and, if you’re lucky, even a whale pass by. A gaggle of geese, a couple of bald eagles, owls, and of course our beloved blue herons are frequently perched within view. In the evening, gaze into a crackling fire in the seaside fire pit (or gas fire pit if burning restrictions are in effect) or enjoy the silence and splendor of the star-filled sky. For the cycling enthusiasts, grab the bikes and set out on the Lochside Trail which runs right past the front gate.
We are very close to all the great sites: Sidney by the Sea – 5 km (3 miles); Butchart Gardens – 10 km (6 miles); and, Downtown Victoria – 20 km (12 miles).
There's bus transportation right at the property entrance and we are close to all major transportation hubs: Victoria International Airport – 4 ½ km (2 miles) - Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal – 10 km (6 miles) - Anacortes / Sidney Ferry Terminal – 5 km (3 miles).
Sidney by the Sea boasts fabulous restaurants, shops, and, grocery and liquor stores. There’s a street market every Sunday morning in the summer months with vendors offering everything from locally produced wines and ciders, locally grown produce, handmade jewelry by local artisans, handmade soaps, home-made breads, jams, fudge, food trucks, live entertainment and so much more.
